Computer Scanners
Udgivet den 14. September 2009 1 kommentarComputer scanners have become a major part of our home office over the last couple of years. The technology that computer scanners use is everywhere today and is used in many ways.
Different types of computer scanners
As there is with everything else, there’s a wide range of computer scanners available to people.
The different types of computer scanners are as follows:Flatbed scanners: These are also called desktop scanners, and are the most commonly used scanners in households as well as in offices.
Sheet-feed scanners: These computer scanners are very similar to the flatbed scanners, the thing that sets them apart though is that in this case the document is moved and the scanning unit is immobile. This type of computer scanners looks like a small portable printer.
Handheld scanners: Now this is a surprise, these computer scanners are, handheld! Basically they use the same technology as the standard flatbed scanner, but they rely on the user to move them instead of having a motorized unit moving the document. These computer scanners typically don’t provide the user with a good quality of images. However they are very useful for capturing text quickly.
What does computer scanners actually do?
The basic principle of a scanner is to have an image or a text, take a picture of it, and then process it in some way. Capturing image and text with computer scanners allows you to save information to a file on your computer.
By having for example a news paper article as an image file on your computer, it allows for editing, enhancing, and printing or even for use on a webpage.
How do computer scanners work?
The document that the user wants scanned is place on the glass plate and the cover is closed.
The cover gives the scanner a uniform background which the computer scanners use as a reference point for figuring out the size of the document that´s currently being scanned. This background is mostly white although sometimes black.
The computer scanners have mirrors inside of it that’s been angled slightly, some scanners has only 2 while others have 3. The scanner combines the data from the three parts of the mirror reflections and combines it into a single full-color image.
