Your computer cables are one of the most critical components of your desktop or notebook computer. Your computer cables connect you and your computer to the world, and make it possible for every interaction. Yet your computer cables are often the most overlooked part of your PC.

    Custom computer cables

Most users don’t know that getting custom computer cables means you can put your PC in a more convenient location, so that you are not trapped by short keyboard cables, and allow your printer to be moved off of your desk and across the room if needed.

Custom computer cables mean you control of layout of your workspace, rather than the length of the original cables.

What are computer cables used for?

Computer cables are used to connect monitors, keyboards, printers, hard drives, and other peripherals to computers. There are many different types of products.

Choices include extender cables, patch cable and patch cords, flat cables, power cordage, bulk cables, and cable assemblies. Other unlisted, specialized and proprietary computer cables are also available.

Extender cables and patch cables are common types of computer cables. Extender cables provide extra length for an existing cable.

They are sometimes known as cable extenders or extension cables. Patch cables or patch chords are terminated at both ends with plugs. Normally, these computer cables are used for interconnecting circuits on a patch panel.

    Technology of computer cables

Computer cables differ in terms of technology.

The different choices can be serial, USB, LAN or Ethernet.

While the USB is a 12Mbps bus which proves low to medium speed connections between devices or computers, Ethernet is a LAN type of computer cables that supports data transfer speeds of up to 10Mbps.

The standard type of cable used to connect networks together is called a straight through cable. It’s also referred to by several other names, such as CAT 5 cable, network cable or patch cable, but they all refer to the same type of cable.
